Geordie Plays Volume 1

By Ed Waugh

This first volume of Ed Waugh’s North East history plays features Hadaway Harry, The Great Joe Wilson, and Carrying David. Each play brings to life the characters of three famous Tyneside heroes. Harry Clasper, a miner whose sculling skills made him a legend and World Champion rower in the 19th Century; the Victorian music hall star Joe Wilson, who was known as The Bard of Tyneside; and Glenn McCrory, one-time World Champion cruiserweight boxer.  All three men battled against the odds to make an impact in their respective careers. Russell Floyd, who directed the hugely successful premieres of all three plays, describes Ed’s writing as “brave, honest and funny.”
