THE early part of the year is always a time for making plans, and I have more than a few up my sleeve. Just now, following my four-year exploration of the North East – the old kingdom of Northumbria – I am aiming for an even wider perspective on all things northern, to try and get a sense of what makes the north so special, especially its landscapes and our relationship with them and its wild creatures.
