CONTAINED in this guidebook are step-by-step route descriptions of the two long-distance Saints’ walks and the 62-mile Coast Path, which both routes partially follow. Stretching from Heavenfield near Hadrian’s Wall to Holy Island, St Oswald’s Way covers 108½ miles over eight stages. St Cuthbert’s Way, conventionally running from Melrose to Holy Island, plus an extension from Holy Island to Berwick-upon-Tweed, covers 77½ miles over six stages.
